Follow Your Heart (Part 3) – Connecting With Your Heart

The Heart’s Importance

What does it mean to follow one’s own heart? To follow your heart means to follow the path that is most true to you. And what is most true to you, you only know.

What fills you with excitement and joy just by thinking about it? What captures your imagination and makes you wonder and laugh like a child? The answers to these questions lay in your heart.

The heart speaks to us with passionate emotion and excitement. It makes us want to dance and sing and paint. It makes us want to solve complex mathematical problems that explain the universe. It makes us want to climb the highest mountains just because we can.

If you don’t know what you’re passionate about, then you have been disconnected from your heart for too long. The heart is essential to our lives and without it we are lost. Without it, we cannot live.

Feel To Reconnect With Your Heart

Whenever you find yourself not knowing what to do in any area of your life, you’ll need to reconnect with your heart.

In order to connect with your heart, you must first understand that the heart will not speak to you in thoughts. The heart speaks in its’ native language of emotions and feelings.

Feelings are a great indicator of what your heart wants. Say for example that you are thinking about where to live. If the thought of one place makes you feel sick in the stomach, and the thought of another place makes you feel energetic and excited, the obvious choice is to go with the place that makes you feel excited because that is what your heart is telling you. That’s the way it is with all decisions.

Sometimes it’s a good idea to take a break from your day to day life in order to feel your heart once again. When you step away from your life, you will have the chance to see it from a new perspective. You set all your problems aside, and without them bothering you, you are allowed to think and feel clearly.

Take some time off your normal routines to explore your desires. Journal or write everything that you’re feeling, and what you want for your life. Don’t be afraid to dream. FEEL who you truly are and what you truly want. Pay attention to what makes you feel happy, excited, motivated, and full of glee.

You need to be completely honest with yourself. Don’t be afraid of expressing who you really are. You don’t need to explain it to anyone if you don’t want to. Out of the billions of people on Earth, there are millions and millions who love and accept you just the way you are. (The author of this article is one of them).

You will need courage to take the firsts steps. But don’t worry, there are plenty of people who will help you along the way.

The heart is so important. Without our hearts, we would be lost. Without our hearts, we never would have lived. Humankind would have never stepped outside the Earth’s sky. We never would have crossed the sea’s edge. We never would have left the trees for the savannas.

Our hearts are our spirits, our guidance. They give us hope. They are our inner child that is waiting to leap, and run. They are waiting to imagine the impossible.

You have only but one life. Don’t let anybody control what you can and cannot do, because they can’t. Only you have the power to create the life that you want. Don’t let yourself be fooled by the voices that tell you you can’t make your dreams come true. Even when that voice is yours and it says you’re not good enough, or smart enough.

Follow Your Heart (Part 2) – The Heart

What Shall We Do With Our Lives?

Many of the people on this planet are living day to day lives without consciously choosing the paths they walk. Not many are aware that they have the freedom and power to create their own destiny.

For many people it’s difficult to make choices that will make them happy because they honestly don’t know how to. The majority of us were never taught how to make empowering choices.

So how do we know that the decisions we’re making are for the best? How do we decide what to do with our lives? And what should we do with them?

For what seemed the longest time, I struggled with these questions. I never dedicated myself to anything because I never had a reason to. I was doing just enough to survive, but other than that, I didn’t know what to do. The few things that would capture my attention, they would do so only briefly and eventually they would subside. In school I wanted to do my best, but no matter how much effort I put into it, it was never permanent.

I felt empty inside, but what was it? What was that “void” that I was missing? Nothing seemed to fill that need, that desperation that I felt in my life. I felt anxious. Apathy consumed me. I lived for about three years in and out of an apathetic state. I didn’t care so much about what happened. I thought that everything was meaningless when compared to the grand cosmos.

The Heart, The Answer

Having nothing better to do, I continued to push through it all. I disconnected from everything that didn’t interest me. Eventually over a course of three years I had accidentally shed away every thing that was not me. I developed an inner awareness of myself; and what I found inside was my heart. For the first time in a long time I felt a kindle of excitement once again.

At first it was very frightening to follow my heart because it required a lot of courage — but it was definitely worth it.

So much happened in such a short while. In three months I lived more than I had lived in the three previous years of disconnection. I met the Love of my life; I planned a round-the-world trip with her; and I made a substantial amount of income than I ever had.

It saddened me, however, whenever I saw others struggling with the same issues I struggled with for such a long time. I don’t want anyone else to struggle to find the simple truth that I found. I want to help you connect with your heart so that you may live a fulfilled life.

What Is The Heart?

To connect with your own heart, you must first know what it is. Everybody defines “heart” differently, but heart in this case simply means “the person who you truly are.” We call it “the heart” because it is the core of who you truly are. Others may call it a soul, or something similar. It doesn’t really matter what you call it. What is important is that you’re in connection with your true self.

Everybody has a heart, but for some it is difficult to connect with it because it’s hidden inside a false life. The more years spent not following one’s heart, the more difficult it is to connect with it. Realize, however, that you have the power and freedom to create your own destiny. Don’t be like so many people who falsely “live” their years away, doing the same thing year after year like zombies.

Sadly not everybody is ready to wake up. Like all things in life, it is up to you. It is your decision to make when you want to follow your heart — when you want to live a life of joy and growth.

Understand that every decision you make will create your life. You alone are responsible for your life. By basing your life decisions on your heart, you will undoubtedly create a life of joy.
